Classes taught in two languages, your native language and your target language is called Bilingual Education. Bilingual Education is important to me because it can improve a lot of things in your life. I had to take Bilingual Education for one year because I didn't know English at all, but now I have to take regular classes because my English language really improved during this one year. There are many differences between these two classes.

In junior high school I was in a class where students were only from my native country, and all of them spoke the same language. My teacher was from the same country also, and he spoke the same language. He didn't want to talk to us in our native language, which is Polish, because he thought that if he talked to us in English we would learn faster. Being in Bilingual Education is easier for those who don't understand the target language because they are free to talk in whatever language they wish. In junior high school my teacher taught us History, and every day he gave us vocabulary words which we had to know in our native language, and we had to know the meaning in English too. This really helped me with improving my English language. Bilingual Education is also important because it can help us with maintain and improving our native language skills. You would not forget your native language if you used it every day because you would talk to your friends and your teacher. Bilingual Education would increase learning of academic areas. For example, you would have a chance to learn your native language still, but you would increase your target language at the same time. However, Bilingual Education also would help you with getting a better job or career in the future. For example, if you work in a place where there would be a lot of immigrants from one country or same as yours, you would be able to communicate with them. By knowing two or more languages you can sometimes get a very good job. If you would like to return to your native country, you could because you would be able to understand and speak or write in your native language. Therefore, if you would like to work, you could even open a private school in your native country, where you could teach kids or grownup another language just as you did.

This is why Bilingual Education is important to me and should be to all of us because knowing two languages you can be a very famous person which you've really dreamed of. Just think, if you just came to the United States it is just a great class if you start with Bilingual Education because you can learn a lot in this class. You can learn a target language and still remember your native language.
